When we meet:

Once a week in term time on a Monday evening

Where do we meet?

Presbytery

The group’s object / purpose:

  • To help non Catholics that are thinking of becoming Catholic to understand what is involved in becoming a practicing Catholic.
  • To prepare non Christians for the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.
  • To prepare Christians (but not Catholics) for the Sacraments of Confirmation, Reconciliation and Eucharist (reception into the Church)
  • To prepare uncatechised baptised Catholics for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation as needed.

Additional Information:

The meetings are very informal and begin with tea, coffee and social chat while the whole group assembles. Close to the start of the programme, the candidates are asked what questions they have, so they can be included in the programming of the meetings. The members of the group are not committed to becoming Catholic when they join in September – that decision comes later.  The team of catechists include Fr Edward, Allan Cook and Karen Alderson who take it in turns to present a topic each evening.
