Jubilee Year 2025

Pope Francis has designated 2025 as the Year of Jubilee for the Catholic Church with the theme ‘Pilgrims of Hope.’  “Jubilee” is the name given to a particular year. A time to re-establish a proper relationship with God, with one another, and with all of creation. In the Catholic Church, the concept of Jubilee or ‘Holy Year’ was used to declare special years for forgiveness and reconciliation. The Jubilee of Hope began in December 2024 with Pope Francis opening the “Holy Door” in St. Peter’s Basilica, offering the world’s 1.3 billion Catholics the possibility of obtaining a plenary indulgence and a year of special graces. The Jubilee of Hope will end on the feast of the Epiphany in 2026.  Pope Francis asked that 2024 be a ‘Year of Prayer’, as a preparatory year for the Jubilee Year of 2025.

One of the churches in our Deanery, St Ann’s Catholic Church, Kingston Hill, is one of the designated Pilgrimage Churches for the Jubilee Year 2025.  The Pilgrim’s Guidelines Booklet is available below.  It will serve as a guide for pilgrims visiting St Ann’s and help them experience a meaningful spiritual journey.

In the coming months, there will be many activities at St Ann’s to keep all pilgrims focussed on prayer – special Masses, Adoration, Rosary Walks and Special Talks – see notices for more details.
