The group’s object / purpose:

We are a group of Catholic men, pledged to help the Church and the clergy in any way possible and in particular our own Parish Priests. The work we do helps us to develop all aspects of our faith. We are dedicated to the principles of Charity, Unity and Fraternity and we exist to support the mission and the social doctrine of the Catholic Church and at the same time to work for the “spiritual and material good of its members and their families”.

Additional Information:

The Knights of Saint Columba (KSC) is a Catholic fraternal organisation – the largest of its kind in the United Kingdom. The Order began in 1919 and is named in honour of Saint Columba, a Christian missionary from Ireland who helped to introduce Christianity to the people of northern Britain. It is a member of the International Alliance of Catholic Knights, which pursues similar objectives throughout the world.

At the national level the Order raises funds to develop action programmes such as providing fresh water in Africa, supporting charities like Vision Aid Overseas, and helping fellow Christians through Aid To The Church In Need. Our latest project was the development and production of a “Forces’ Prayer Book”, and the KSC has provided 30,000 copies so that every member of he Armed Services can have a personal book.

Locally one of our main charities is the Pilgrimage Trust (HCPT) which arranges for handicapped young people to go on pilgrimage to Lourdes. We hold fund raising events during the year to support these local and national charities. In our church we designed the Christmas cribs and we erect them every year inside and outside the church.

Our willingness to support our Church and Communities, our commitment to help those less fortunate than ourselves, and our drive to develop young people in their journey of Faith is the spirit that lies at the core of our Order. The only way we know how to keep this spirit alive is by sharing our story. The Order is open to every eligible Catholic man. You are invited to join us.
